Cache GOP's Largest Stand-Alone Central Committee Meeting
Updated: 4 days ago
What a night! On Thursday, October 15, 147 members of the Cache County Republican Central Committee packed the Commons at Mt. Logan Middle School, the largest stand-alone Central Committee meeting on record. That's nearly three times the 50 members the bylaws require for a quorum. They had a full slate of bylaw proposals ahead of them, and they worked through all 11 and adjourned at 8:23 p.m., more than half an hour before the 9:00 p.m. close on the agenda.

Seven proposals passed, including Gina Worthen's alternate-delegates amendment, three proposals from Sonia Larsen, the vice chair proposal, Jon David Jorgensen's meeting-notice amendment and Rob Barton's Proposal 9. Proposal 5, on reviewing eligibility under Bylaw 7F, was tabled to the next Central Committee meeting. Proposals 8 and 10 were withdrawn by their sponsors, and neither version of Proposal 11, on signature-gathering candidates, passed.
The best part was how the evening went. Members disagreed openly, made their case and listened to each other. Then they voted and walked out as friends. "Principles over candidates" is more than a slogan in Cache County, and Thursday night showed it.
The updated bylaws, amended October 15, 2026, are posted on the Bylaws page. Thank you to every precinct officer and delegate who gave up an evening to serve. Here's to the work ahead!
