Trent has served as Mayor of Riverton, UT since 2018, taking a business-minded approach to municipal government; cutting property taxes, reducing fees, and saving residents tens of millions of dollars. He has been consistently pro-liberty during the COVID lockdowns, has protected the right to life of the unborn, and pushed back on damaging “woke” policies like ESG.
He was also a candidate for the U.S. Senate in 2024, receiving the endorsement of President Trump. Beyond his public sector experience, Staggs has successfully led organizations ranging from Fortune 500 companies to small- and medium-sized enterprises, across the finance, technology, and energy sectors. He recently served on the board of an energy company he helped take public, securing a listing on NASDAQ in 2022.
He was appointed in May of this year by President Trump to serve as a Regional Advocate for the US Small Business Administration’s Office of Advocacy over a six-state region. He is part of an elite “strike force” that identifies and eliminates burdensome regulation across all federal agencies.
Trent received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Utah and an MBA from the Marriott School of Business at Brigham Young University. He and his wife, Alisha, are the proud parents of two children.
