Nominating Convention 2026

Cache County Republican Party Celebrates Successful 2026 Nominating Convention

Logan, UT – April 12, 2026 – The Cache County Republican Party successfully held its 2026 Nominating Convention on Saturday, April 11, at Ridgeline High School in Millville, bringing together elected neighborhood precinct chairs and county delegates to select Republican candidates who will represent the party in the upcoming primary and general elections.

The convention highlighted the strength of Cache County’s caucus system, empowering local neighborhood leaders to choose the party’s representatives. This grassroots process ensures that elected officials remain accountable to the communities they serve.

Convention-Only Candidates Advance with Strong Support

Incumbent State Representative Casey Snider, running as a Convention-Only Candidate for Utah House District 5, earned the Republican nomination outright at the convention with a decisive 79.68% of the vote. He will advance directly as the party’s nominee for the General Election, avoiding a primary challenge.

Dane Murray and J. Brett Chambers, both running as Convention-Only Candidates for Cache County Attorney, advanced from the convention to the Republican Primary. In the second round of voting, Dane Murray received 59.74% and Brett Chambers received 40.25%. Their commitment to the convention process underscores the party’s dedication to strengthening the caucus system and amplifying the voices of local delegates and precinct chairs.

Cache County Republican Party leaders emphasized that supporting Convention-Only candidates reinforces the bylaws and the critical role of neighborhood precinct leaders in selecting representatives.

Key Speakers Highlight Unity and Local Governance

Utah Attorney General Derek Brown delivered a keynote address, inspiring attendees with his vision for principled conservative leadership and strong state governance.

U.S. Congressman Blake Moore, Representative Mike Petersen, and Representative Jason Thompson also spoke about the importance of religious and family values in our civic processes. They were joined by the County Council members in stressing the importance of collaboration and working together even amid differences of opinion. They reminded delegates that effective local government requires unity of purpose while respecting diverse perspectives within the party.

A Win for the Caucus System

Cache County Republicans celebrated the caucus victories as a testament to the party’s ongoing efforts to keep elections and representative officials chosen by local neighborhood leaders rather than outside influences. The convention demonstrated the vitality of grassroots conservatism in Cache Valley and the party’s commitment to constitutional principles, transparency, and community-driven decision-making.

“Today’s convention was a powerful display of Republican unity and the strength of our caucus system,” said Cache County Republican Party Chair Natalie Levi. “By supporting Convention-Only candidates like Dane Murray, Brett Chambers, and Casey Snider, we are ensuring that our nominees are selected by the dedicated precinct chairs and delegates who took the time to get to know the candidates and supported the ones who best reflect the values of our communities.”

The Cache County Republican Party thanks all candidates, delegates, precinct chairs, and volunteers who participated in making the 2026 Nominating Convention a success. The party looks forward to a strong primary season and victory in the November General Election.
