County Executive George Daines Proposes $4 Million to Help Finish Cache Valley Road Projects
Good roads carry Cache Valley's school buses, farm trucks and daily commutes. At the Cache County Council meeting on Tuesday, October 13, 2026, County Executive George Daines presented a proposal to put $4,003,075 from the county's transportation-related sales tax revenue toward regional road projects.

What the proposal would do
The money would come from the county's guideway fund and supplement projects ranked through the Cache Valley Council of Governments (COG), which coordinates regional transportation improvements.
Daines recommended making the funds available to COG to help fully fund the next phase of Wolf Pack Way, and possibly more improvements, including a right-of-way purchase near 200 West and 1200 North.
Without the extra funding, the county's current allocation would fully fund the three highest-ranked projects but not Wolf Pack Way Phase C, according to his presentation.
The council did not approve the funding at this meeting. Any final county contribution will return to the council for approval.
Careful planning like this helps Cache County keep up with growth while making the most of the dollars residents already pay.
