Rep. Jason Thompson Writes in the Washington Examiner on States' Rights
Cache Valley's own Rep. Jason Thompson of Utah House District 3 took a Utah perspective to a national audience. On October 11, 2026, the Washington Examiner published his op-ed, "It's time conservatives admit it: Citizens United broke states' rights."
A states' rights argument
Rep. Thompson writes that conservatives have long argued Washington holds too much power, and he asks them to apply that same principle to money in politics. "Utah should run itself like Utah. Montana should get to be Montana," he writes.
The piece builds on his work in the Legislature on accountability and transparency in government, themes he has returned to throughout his service to House District 3.
