School Board tax is OPTIONAL

1 min read

The recent increase in the school board tax is being sold as a REQUIREMENT by the Legislator. However it is completely opposite! The Legislators have given the School Board record amounts of funding this last year. The Board is increasing our taxes for an opt in program they choose to do with the State of Utah for additional funding. This program allows them 5 years to increase taxes on the NEW GROWTH that comes to Cache County. Then they need to fill out and submit the proper information to maintain their additional funding. However our School Board didn't do that this time around. So they are now in a predicament. They have now voted in to raise our property taxes again to receive the 8 million dollar for the increase in Administration Costs, including a raise for the Super Intendent. ALL of our Representatives and Senators have asked them not to put this increase forward. Terrie Rhodes falsely proclaimed they supported her, but in fact those conversations never happened. Elections are coming up in November. Come to the Meet and Greet on Sept. 12 at 6 pm at Lewiston Elementary.
