LOGAN, Utah — The Cache County Republican Party congratulates County Clerk/Auditor Bryson Behm and his staff on being recognized by the State of Utah for excellence in election administration, and applauds the safeguards that have made Cache County a model for voter confidence.

On August 28, 2026, Lt. Gov. Deidre Henderson's office presented the Cache County Clerk's Office with an Excellence in Elections Award at the state's first-ever Excellence in Elections Awards, "in recognition of its commitment to accurate, secure and transparent election administration." Chief Deputy Clerk Michelle Stanger was also individually honored for her exceptional work as an election official.

"This award is a reflection of the incredible dedication of our staff, our poll workers and the many volunteers who work tirelessly behind the scenes to ensure every eligible vote in Cache County is counted accurately and securely," Behm said. "This honor belongs to each and every one of them."

The award caps two years of steady improvement. In October 2025, a follow-up report from the Lieutenant Governor's Office found that Behm and his staff had resolved all 31 issues identified in the state's review of the 2023 election, which predated his time as clerk. "You and your staff have made outstanding efforts and meaningful progress," Henderson wrote. "The improvements demonstrate a strong commitment to your oath of office." In September 2025, Behm also earned VOTE certification from Weber State University's Olene S. Walker Institute of Politics & Public Service after completing its 10-course training program for Utah election officials.

Members of the Cache County Republican Party toured the county's balloting center and saw these safeguards firsthand. Cache County uses a paper balloting system: every voter marks a paper ballot, and that paper record backs up every count:

  • A digital chain-of-custody record every time a drop box is picked up and opened

  • GPS tracking on ballot pickup vehicles and keys

  • QR-code ballot tracking, used by only a handful of Utah counties

  • Signature verification on returned ballots, with voters notified and given time to fix a mismatch

  • A public Logic & Accuracy test of every voting machine before each election

  • An election liaison assigned to every city in the county

  • Post-election audits backed by a paper trail

"Cache County voters can be confident that every ballot is handled with care, accountability and transparency," said Natalie Levi, Chair of the Cache County Republican Party. "Bryson Behm and his team have earned that trust, and the state has noticed."

Secure elections matter because every vote shapes the community we live in. The leaders Cache County voters choose this fall, from the county council and county clerk to the Legislature and local school boards, make the decisions that affect property taxes, roads, public safety, schools and growth in our neighborhoods. Local races are often decided by small margins, so each ballot carries real weight. When voters trust the process, more people take part, and our communities are stronger for it.

Ballots for the November 3 general election are mailed in mid-October, and early voting runs October 26–30. Voters can check their registration at vote.utah.gov.
